This is the collection of landscape paintings finished over the years. Recently, I’ve gravitated to drawing more landscape graphites with just a touch of watercolor.
Landscape Oil Painting – “Hunt Test Landscape”
Bird Dog Graphite – “Training Day”
A scene from South Georgia of two handlers working on training their pointer.
Bird Dog Field Trial Graphite – “The Stragglers”
A Bird Dog Field Trial Scene in the south.
Landscape Graphite and Watercolor – “Old Mission Apples”
Apples for sale on Old Mission peninsula near Traverse City, MI.
Graphite and Watercolor Landscape – “Live Oak at Sunset”
Live Oak near Thomasville, GA
Landscape Oil Painting – “Guest House at Perkin’s Lane”
I lived at this guest house on Perkin's Lane at a South Georgia Plantation briefly.
Old House Watercolor Painting – “Quail Flush at Perkin’s Lane”
I stayed at this small guest house often...
Wagon and Live Oak Landscape Graphite – “Live Oak”
While getting ready for the GA/FL owner’s trial I saw this wagon and rider from the plantation next door sitting in the mist of the morning under my friend’s massive live oak.
Bird Dog Field Trial Graphite - "Ted's Train"
Wasn’t sure what to call this but because Ted Turner’s wagon is prominent, I just called it Ted’s Train.
I painted this several years ago of a structure in Fishtown in Leland. MI.
Old Shed Door Watercolor Painting – “Cobwebs”
An old shed door with weathered wood. The cobwebs took quite awhile to finish because I had to get the grain of the wood in there.
Civil War Landscape Watercolor – “Bull Run House”
I painted this watercolor based upon a trip I took to the Bull Run battlefield in the late 1980’s.
Labrador and Landscape Oil Painting – “Leelanau Joy Rider"
Another painting of my friend Ellie’s black lab Bronco. This time I put a scene in of a road headed toward Cedar. MI in Leelanau County in the background.
Black Lab Acrylic Painting - "Sunnyhill Joy Rider"
My friend Ellie had a dog named Bronco which I’ve painted more than a couple times.
Iowa Farmer Graphite Portrait – “Homestead”
I was visiting one of my best friend’s family who are basically neighbors of ours in Iowa, and got his dad to take me around the old homestead.
Arizona Landscape Graphite - Saguaro Wren
This graphite got to hang in the Sonoran Desert Museum for a short time. Plans are to do more of these.
Arizona Landscape Acrylic - "Doves at San Xavier"
I was taking pictures of San Xavier Mission near Tucson, and the clouds actually looked like doves flying over it.
Farmer and Tractor Graphite – “The Planter”
This is a graphite of family friend and Iowa neighbor getting ready to plant in the early spring.
Horses and Riders Oil Painting – “The Gallery”
This was the gallery at the owner’s trial at Horseshoe Plantation.
Hunt Test Lab and Handler Acrylic Painting – “Sam at the Line”
I captured my friend Sam on the line during a hunt test. This was as much a landscape as portrait.
My friend posted a bunch of wonderful photos of her puppies in the back of her Ford Ranchero in Florida. I had to paint it.
Watercolor Portrait – “Souvenirs”
This was based on a photo posted by a friend of a friend on Facebook whose daughter was collecting sea shells and was another scene I couldn’t resist painting.
Wildlife Watercolor - "Cornfield Deer"
This is a common sight as I look out across the yard to the field. Deer come by and watch us frequently.
Wildlife Watercolor and graphite.
This turkey made it to the top of one of the pine trees in our yard. It is graphite with a hint of watercolor.
