Pointer Oil Painting – “Pinky the Plantation Puppy”
Bird Dog Graphite – “Training Day”
A scene from South Georgia of two handlers working on training their pointer.
Bird Dog Field Trail Graphite Drawing
Field Trial Scene from South Georgia. My favorite trial – the GA/FL Owner’s Trial held every February for the past 100 plus years.
Bird Dog Watercolor – “Borderline Point”
One of my first watercolors from a quail hunt in South Georgia. This made the cover of Pointing Dog Journal.
Bird Dog Oil Portrait – “Burt at Borderline”
Burt was one of the employees at Borderline Plantation and I had a lot of fun with him and Marty when we went out quail hunting.
Bird Dog Field Trial Watercolor Painting – “Kathy’s Brace”
I wasn’t sure when painting this which brace it was, but it turned out to be my friend Kathy from one of the plantations near Thomasville, GA.
Bird Dog Field Trial Oil Painting – “100th Running of the Georgia Florida
I was commissioned to paint this oil to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Georgia/Florida Field Trial Club.
Pointer and Handler Oil Painting – “Under Foot”
This is a scene I basically created using several photos of a field trial and it just all came together correctly.
Weimaraner Watercolor Portrait – “Sophie”
Sophie was a Weimaraner that lived in Thomasville, GA. Known as the blue dog, Weimaraners do have that tinge of blue and it is a challenge to get the coat color just right.
Graphite Pointer Portrait – “Pensive”
I did a watercolor of this dog and decided to do a graphite of just his head, and like the black lab I drew in “Anticipation."
Pointer Oil Painting – “Pinky the Plantation Puppy”
Pinky was a pointer at Borderline Plantation and was destined to be a great bird dog.
English Pointer Oil Painting – “Miller’s Pointer”
My friends near Thomasville, Georgia commissioned me to do this oil painting of their favored pointer.
Pointer and Ruffed Grouse Watercolor Painting – “Lady”
This was an early commission of a pointer locked on a Ruffed Grouse.
This was one of my first watercolor portraits of a dog. My friend Larry Mueller took the photo I used for reference.
Setter and Children’s Oil Portrait – “Harvey’s Crew”
Quite a large commission of my friend’s kids and setters on his quail wagon.
Bird Dog and Handler Watercolor Portrait – “Getting Ready to Go”
This is a watercolor of a handler and helper at a South Georgia Plantation several years ago.
German Shorthaired Pointer Oil Portrait – “Dolly’s Crew”
This is a panorama of a German Shorthaired Pointer named Dolly and her offspring all in one painting.
Springer Spaniel Oil Painting Portrait – “Hide and Seek”
This was a Springer Spaniel hunting years ago at the Dobbs Training Center near Marysville, CA.
Pet Portrait Oil Painting – “Gus”
While Gus is not really an official Bird Dog, he did retrieve them on a Bird Dog plantation.
Vizsla Oil Portrait – “Jeff and Ruby”
A rare commission from close to where I live. And a rare opportunity to paint a Vizsla.
Setter and Hunters Oil Painting – “End of the Day”
One of my favorite places to be is on a friend’s property near South Hill, MN. It hosted a lot of hunters from the Ruffed Grouse Society’s national hunt and this is a scene from one of those days.
