Noted for his accuracy and attention to detail, award-winning artist Lou DePaolis’ pewter jewelry, and dog and wildlife prints include some of the most unique and hard to find creatures in the wild. Products features pewter belt buckles, pins, pendants, and mugs with designs attached, as well as both limited and open edition prints by “one of the finest sporting dog artists in the United States today” (Orvis “125 Years of Sporting Tradition”).
Lou DePaolis was noted for his exquisite paintings and jewelry sculpture of dogs and wildlife, produced during his more than 50-year career. His art graces the walls of collectors worldwide.
The recipient of numerous art awards and honors, and a First Place winner at the International Wildlife Art Fair in Kansas City, Lou was regarded as one of the finest Wildlife and Sporting Dog Artists in the United States.
For over 50 years, Lou endeavored to capture the beauty of nature and its wildlife, and literally traveled the world to do so. In his later years, he concentrated on sporting art, capturing deer, pheasant, duck and retrieving dogs in their natural environment.
Bill Tarrant once wrote in a feature article of Field & Stream magazine, “I know something of dogs and something of art, and this is the finest painting of a Lab I’ve ever seen.”
Over the course of his career, Lou had been commissioned by people around the world, including kings, to create original works of art. His limited edition prints and pewter sculpture include some of the most unique and hard to find creatures in the wild.
Devoted to the preservation of wildlife through Ducks Unlimited and numerous other animal conservation organizations, Lou DePaolis was one of the original founders of the New York State Fair Wildlife Art Show.
The key to Lou’s success, beyond artistic talent, was his thorough and unrelenting research. Before attempting to photograph or paint a subject, he would learn and observe everything there is to know about the subject.
