Bird Dog Field Trial Watercolor Painting – “Ted’s Parade”

I was riding on a horse of to the side of the gallery at the Georgia/Florida owner’s trial at Avalon Plantation and I remember one of the riders next to me saying that it was such a beautiful sight. I took several photos and got home only to notice that Ted Turner was at the front of the gallery as if leading a parade. Hence the title. A friend of his – Catherine Crier of ABC News fame – found out it was for sale and called me to buy it for Ted for Christmas. “What do you give a guy who has a billion dollars?” she asked.

“Chris Chantland is an extraordinary realist, but his work captures much more than an image, an animal or individual. He brings the very essence, the soul of his subjects onto canvas. His work rivals the very best in portrait painting today.”
